On 20 December 2022, the NSW Parliament tabled a report on the status of water trading in NSW, outlining their key findings and recommendations.
The final report made 2 findings, alongside 10 recommendations about how the committee believes that Water Trading in the State can be improved. The NSW government is required to respond to this report by 20 March 2023.
The recommendations made surround the following themes:
- Trading
- Market Transparency
- Unified platform
- Governance
- Water Trading Rules
- Collaboration across the Murray-Darling Basin
Many of the themes discussed in this report are not dissimilar to those discussed in the ACCC report (2021) and the Water market reform: final roadmap report by Daryl Quinlivan (2022).
