Summary of the Opportunity
A significant new water infrastructure project is proposed between Bowen and Townsville to unlock approximately 50,000 hectares of high-quality agricultural land that is already cleared and suitable for irrigated production.
The project has been developed to provide long-term water security for agricultural, industrial and other commercial users while supporting regional economic growth and future investment opportunities.
Expressions of Interest are being sought from organisations wishing to secure water supply and assist in confirming project demand.
The maps below show the approximate project boundary and the extent of cleared, high-quality agricultural land within the study area.
